Foundations of a good MGA relationship

Although at times business and personal relationships are very different, they both share many of the same building blocks. Without these stable foundations it’s difficult to have a harmonious exchange.

Ahead of the Bravo Network Conference, this Valentine’s Day, we’re discussing the foundations of a good relationship… a good MGA and broker relationship.

Trust

Trust is the cornerstone of any healthy relationship. Without trust no partnership is likely to succeed.

At Geo, we offer quality, bespoke products backed by experienced teams. For many of our products, we don’t just offer protection for your customer’s passion, we share it. That’s right, many of our marine underwriters actively participate in boating as a hobby. Similarly, our agriculture products are underwritten by those who know the product requirements best – real life farmers.

We know the importance of having the right protection in place for the things you love, and we are here to help your customers find it. Trust is at the heart, and without it no partnership will succeed.

Honesty

We care about our clients, and their customers and will support you to find the best cover and actively find solutions to cover gaps within the market.  Additionally, we will keep you updated should this become something we offer in future.

We work to identify gaps and ensure our products fill those spaces. Our Renovation product has been developed to support homeowners undergoing construction products. Many property products exclude works cover, so Renovation Underwriting can help you to support these clients and provide continuous cover.

Respect

Respect can be shown in many ways. Actively listening, understanding another’s point of view, responding quickly, being prepared, appreciating peoples hard work and acknowledging achievements.

Respect is one of our core values. We take a client-first approach to service and will provide the best products for your customer. We will respect that they are your customer and will try to support you.

Communication

Open, clear communication is vital for healthy relationships and in a professional environment, some would even argue, more so.

We seek your feedback, and in the Insurance Times MGA Survey your comments were appreciated, listened to and are being acted upon. We were delighted to see an improvement to a 4* rating and delighted that two of our Brands achieved the highest rating of 5 stars for another year consecutively. We regularly seek feedback formally and informally, and crucially, ensure we act on it.

Long-term commitment

We’re not here for a ‘summer fling’, we’re here for the long haul. At Geo we invest in our people, many who have been with us for many years, so you get the chance to form great individual relationships with our teams across our specialisms. For example in Marine we have some underwriters who have been with us for over 10 years, and Agriculture for over 20 years!
