Saint Michael’s Hospice Receives Geo Underwriting’s Great Yorkshire Show Flower Wall
We are delighted to announce that Saint Michael’s Hospice is this year’s recipient of the Geo Underwriting Great Yorkshire Show Flower Wall.
We invited members of the local community to nominate charities and organisations that they felt deserved a spark of joy, and were thrilled to receive almost 50 nominations for worthy causes. We were proud to donate the flowers and shrubs from our Members’ Enclosure display to Saint Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate.
The plants were presented to the hospice by Liz Johnson, Technical Underwriter at Geo Underwriting, on 28 July.
Saint Michael’s Hospice supports people living with terminal illness, as well as their families and loved ones, across the Harrogate district. As part of North Yorkshire Hospice Care, which also includes Herriot Hospice and Just ‘B’, the charity provides vital hospice care, emotional wellbeing services and bereavement support to local communities across North Yorkshire.
Supporting the communities we serve
Commenting on the donation, Kate Bush, Trading Director at Geo Underwriting, said:
“At Geo, we don’t just insure rural businesses and farms, we have deep-rooted connections to the agricultural community. We understand the importance of supporting the people and organisations that make such a positive difference locally, and beyond.
“We’re delighted to be able to support St Michael’s Hospice this year. Their team provides incredible care, comfort and dignity to families during some of life’s most difficult moments, and we know just how much that support means to local communities. We hope this donation helps them in their efforts to provide patients with beautiful, peaceful surroundings to enjoy with their families.
“Thank you to everyone who submitted a nomination – it was genuinely moving to see so many worthwhile causes put forward.”
Creating comfort through community support
The flower wall donation will help enhance the hospice environment, creating welcoming spaces for patients, visitors and staff alike.
Jacqui Havercroft, Supporter Care Manager at Saint Michael’s Hospice, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to Geo Underwriting for their generous donation of these beautiful flowers. Thoughtful gestures like this make a real difference to our hospice environment, helping to create warm, welcoming spaces that can bring comfort and brighten the day for everyone who walks through our doors.
“We know these flowers will be enjoyed by our patients, their families and our dedicated staff, and we’d like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone at Geo Underwriting for their kindness and support.”
A show-stopping display
Created by Fiona Macdonald of Raspberry Wild, the 2026 Great Yorkshire Show Flower Wall featured a vibrant mix of locally sourced plants and flowers, including Blue Salvia, Sweet Williams, Firecracker Foxgloves and Cherry Chocolate Cosmos, renowned for its distinctive chocolate-like fragrance.
A standout feature of the display was a bespoke oil painting by local artist Francesca Heyer. Commissioned specifically for the installation, the artwork captured the spirit of the Yorkshire countryside and proved a popular talking point throughout the Show. The painting will now take pride of place in our Harrogate office as a lasting reminder of this year’s event and the community connections it celebrates.
We would like to thank everyone who took the time to nominate a local cause. The volume and quality of nominations highlighted the incredible work being carried out by charities and community organisations across Yorkshire, and we are proud that this year’s Flower Wall will continue its story at Saint Michael’s Hospice.
